Roughly 400,000 people and I marched through the streets of New York City yesterday as part of the People’s Climate March. I have a few photographs to share.
I joined some friends who had started a community group focused on housing, displacement, and land use, and had invited me to march with them. They formed the North West Bushwick Community Group and organized neighbors in response to the development of an over-sized luxury condominium built on land that had once been the site of well-paying jobs.
Together, we marched with Right to the City, a national network of groups working on racial, economic and environmental justice issues, such as gentrification and affordable housing.
